Vector Calculus for Science (Hilary term 2023)

The module vector calculus for science is focused on generalising standard calculus to higher dimensions.

Content

In particular, the module covers differentiability and integrability of functions between one, two and three dimensional spaces. This includes among others Gauss', Green's and Stokes' theorem. Towards the end, the course will focus on solving partial differential equations. I will not follow a book completely but having a look at the standard references Calculus: Early Transcendentals by James Stewart or Calculus: Late Transcendentals by Howard Anton, Irl Bivens, and Stephen Davis is certainly a good idea.

All information including exercise sheets and assignments may be found on blackboard.

Assessment

The module will be assessed by bi-weekly assignments and a final exam.
